This is probably my all time fave cake. We made this creation for the awesome Dóri and István (who by the way won that episode of the Négy Esküvő show and should soon be enjoying their honeymoon trip to Africa). The cake was fully custom designed from the beginning as per Dóri’s wishes… István had some say in it too 
The cake was designed around their wedding colours which were purple and black for the venue decorations and pink and black for the bride and groom’s outfits.
They wanted something very unusual and non-cliched, no white or beige for them! Hence why we suggested the dark sugar ‘flames’, velvet texture and poured sugar details. The skull motif added the goth element that they both very much wanted.
The cake topper was also fully custom made (we don’t use pre-fabricated toppers) and consisted of individual poured sugar elements, coloured and attached together into a beautiful sculpture. (There was about 4 hours of work in the topper ALONE.)
I believe that symbolism is important for occasions like this, hence why the topper depicts two butterflies flying off together towards a happy future. The rest of the table is decorated with other butterflies but they are nowhere near the two on the topper, symbolizing the bride and groom’s commitment towards each other.
The cake had two flavours; walnut sponge with Valhrona chocolate ganache was the main flavour, and for those guests that preferred something fruitier the second option was a vanilla mousse with blueberry cream.
